Louguan

Louguantai (楼观台) in Zhouzhi county (Shaanxi) is the place where, by tradition, Yin Xi, keeper of the Hangu pass, received from Laozi the text of five thousand characters. The temple complex at the foot of the Zhongnan mountains is one of the principal Daoist sanctuaries; it flourished under the Tang. The complex includes several stone steles bearing the text of the Daodejing from various eras.
